"Me: All these people surround me, yet I feel deeply alone. Do you ever feel like this?
Universe: I am technically always alone but never feel lonely because I know we're all connected. When you feel this way, remember that you are all connected. You and I are the same; we make the universe together."
In the painting "Never Alone," I illustrate the lonely feelings one may feel even when surrounded by people. How far have we gone as a society? How disconnected are we from one another? How can one feel lonely even in a sea of other humans?
The artwork features two characters and what appears to be a sound wave. One character tries to remind the other that they aren't alone. Despite a strand of hair attaching the two people, the smaller figure isn't listening. More strands flow outside the frame from both figures, attached to the universe and other beings, reminding us how, in the end, we are all connected.
The pink background, representing love, reminds us that connectedness and empathy toward other humans are essential to our well-being. This connectedness can provide solace and remind us of our humanity.
Can you hear the universe reaching for you and reminding you that we are all just one?
