It's been a weird trip.
My heart had been aching since I arrived, and nothing seemed to appease it.
My beloved city is changing, and so am I.
It's not that we're no longer compatible, but coming back has brought back a lot of complicated feelings. Despite being attached to my roots and friends, I feel the universe is asking me to search for my answers elsewhere, at least for a while.
There's a weird grieving in my heart, a second one, since I left.
I'm not exactly sure why I feel this way, and two weeks of walking around and filling every minute of every day isn't enough to truly understand or appease what I'm feeling.
This series started innocently as a way to document my days for my Instagram story, but quickly became more serious as the days went by. It has now become a very special and emotional series to me, as it will be my last one in Montreal for a little while.
Shooting black and white isn't usually my go-to, but it felt right in the moment, and now I understand why it had to happen this way. Creating art from your heart always has this "magical" aspect to it as you're doing something because it feels right in the moment, but only later (sometimes, much later), do you realize why it had to be created this way.
Knowing what I know now, I wish I had taken even more time to visit other places I love around the city to document them. Until I return to immortalize more cherished places in my hometown, I hope you enjoy this gallery.
